Spring Work

With all this dry weather we feel like we are way ahead of schedule on the farm. Last Monday was the first CSA distribution and we will do it again on Memorial Day. Remember there will be two distributions in May, the first two weeks in June then we take two weeks off,  June 18 and 25, and begin again July 2 straight through to Monday Oct 1. This schedule reflects the growing season. (I hope to send e-mails reminding everyone.) Here are some pictures that say it all.

2012 CSA standard share week #1

Oue first box of the season. Hope everyone enjoyed it !

Pulling plastic by hand

It takes alot of effort but covering some of the fields with plastic really helps with the weeds. Here we are….too small for the big equiptment and too big to take care of all the weeds without the help of plastic.

Hill garden with tractor in the back

The lettuce grows while Richard preps the field in the back ground.

North Hoophouse garden in May

All the cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and early zucchini grow.

Flower garden ready to plant

All set and ready to go.

Pea vines

I love to photograph Pea vines.

Getting ground ready

After work Richard gets the Spelt garden ready for planting

Last weeks storm

The wind blew alot but really didn’t deliver very much rain. Better chance over the weekend

Ranger growing up

He is getting so big!!
